There was a great deal of work on the Red Line this weekend, and it caused a small travel delay this morning. The shuttle had already left for church by the time James and I arrived at our stop in Arlington, so we walked instead. The weather was beautiful, something that has become increasingly rare. Although we missed half of the church service, it was a blessing in disguise: James and I used the time walking to church, and afterwards back to the metro, to get to know one another better. We knew each other before coming to DC, but not well. Quietly, we slipped into the church as the sermon began, and sat in the upstairs balcony.
My plans for the afternoon involved classwork. I had every intention of working on my midterm. The couch called, though, and so my afternoon was spent wedged in the corner cushion, Sheldon Cooper style, with a plate of tater tots and my laptop.
I went to small group again tonight in Alexandria. It continues to be a time of wonderful fellowship and rest. It's been a pretty small group for the past couple of weeks, but still a great group. It's easy to tell that they're not only comfortable with one another, but that they love and cherish each other deeply. What a blessing to have been welcomed into their arms.
