Today was fantastic. Dr. Patty, the chaps, and I went to eat pizza at Ella's, a pizza place right by . . . Gallery Place metro? I forget. It was a particularly neat lunch for several reasons:
1) I wasn't sure a train was ever, ever going to come get us (yaaaay, weekend train schedule. Ugh!).
2) It was Dr. Patty's birthday yesterday!!! We secretly told the wait staff and he ended up with a tiramisu dessert (which we kindly helped him with).
3) As we were wrapping things up, a family walked in and sat at the table next to us-- one of the daughters wore a Texas Tech shirt, and they commented on the Lubbock Christian Tshirts that a couple of our girls were wearing, which led to a comment about where they were from (Whiteface), which made me pipe up that my best friend was from that small town-- "oh, what's her name?" THEY LIVED ACROSS THE STREET FROM HER.
Small world.
Afterwards, we ended up walking around the mall taking pictures, got gelato... and finally, I collapsed on my couch to rest!!

After laying down for the afternoon, my pain level went down and I was able to go to Georgetown with my roommates. We ended up going to Sprinkles, a shoppe that sold enormous cupcakes, and we stopped by the oldest house in Georgetown. Roommate #2 warned me that someone had told her they had rats. That's fine, I thought, We won't go inside in that case.
NO. SUCH. LUCK. They were in the yard. I counted over five in the extremely short time that I stayed in the yard. Roommate #2 and I decided to wait by the street for Roommate #1. Eww.
We had decided to go to this place called Martin's Tavern, which we had found on Yelp, and somewhere along the way Roommate #1 dragged us into Lush, a cosmetic store. I think I'm in love.
They claim to use natural ingredients, and while I turned up my nose at their "natural" soap (my mama does better!), I ended up purchasing a lovely face mask.
On the way home from Martin's (which was an experience that doesn't really bear mentioning; it wasn't as good as yelp made it sound), we popped into a tiny bookstore. To top off the night, we grabbed Labor Day from a redbox at the Giant grocery store down the street.... but it was disappointing! We needed a sweet story, and that just didn't fit the bill.
I'm so dehydrated. Summer in DC means that I should probably be drinking a great deal more than I have been.
Finally, at 1:30AM, I was able to go to bed.
I feel like a zombie .
Blessings,
Clarice
