The knee was better this morning, but there was still pain. I took part of the afternoon to see a chiropractor ($$! My insurance didn't cover it! Ouch!!!), but I feel more human-like. One leg was an inch longer than the other. The knee pain gradually resolved over the course of the day; when I left to go home, I was actually able to take steps down stairs without a great deal of discomfort. This revelation particularly relieved me since working escalators have appeared to be hit-or-miss lately.
I met Dr. Patty at Union Station, and three other LCU students trickled in shortly after we said hello. We ate dinner at the Thunder Grill, which has pretty great flautas and sorbets, and enjoyed laughter and reflection over the past few weeks. Worst moments? Best moments? Had we been exploring yet?

There was some discussion on the Metro bike rentals, but I think we came to the conclusion that walking was cheaper than paying $7.00 for a day rental, and a fee for anything past thirty minutes. Dr. Patty mentioned a couple things from my blogging, with cryptic replies to inquiries about the source, such as: "Word around LCU is..." One of the girls exclaimed that things were going around LCU, and we weren't even there; this, I thought, fairly represented the LCU student culture, albeit a bit dramatically. Funny.
It was so nice to see Dr. Patty. You can't go home, but parts of home can come find you-- the LCU family has definitely become a "home away from home" for me in the short year I've been a student there. I think he needs a Superhero cape. I think that it would add to that "Oh! A familiar face!" jump that your heart does when they see someone that you know and respect after seeing so many tired, unfamiliar stares on the metro day after day.

After dinner, I walked home from Union Station with one of the girls since it wasn't too far, and crawled in bed at an abnormally time: 8:30pm. Although it wasn't a strenuous day, I think that the heat, humidity, and shorter nights have been getting to me.
The portfolio we end up with at the end of the semester is not written over night; we build it slowly, with a piece due every now and then. Our individual development plans were due Monday (SWOT analysis and reflections), and next Monday our resumes are due. I'm so very pleased with mine! Still, I'm going to ask my supervisor if she would mind looking it over.
Lastly, I received a fantastic surprise in the mail: an encouragement card! I took a photo and edited it with my phone (not bad for fingertip handwriting on a small screen, hm?), then sent it to both of my parents. (The lost sheep, and the three other sheep left in California. Really Woolly cards crack me up!)
