My supervisor is gone until Thursday, and after one day my workload for the week was nearly complete. There are outstanding tasks that I'm working on over a period of time (motor development programming research, and looking over a protocol book for formatting/general editing issues for someone in another department), but it's nice to break those up with little tasks. Unfortunately, those are not in any abundance this week.
I left work after lunch to go back to the RAF for programming, which honestly I didn't hear a single word of. No one I've talked to has been thrilled with the Leader Series programming .... I will say, though, that this time all of the panelists played nicely with one another. That was a relief.
After the programming, Roommate #1 and I walked to Giant to get food and, perhaps most importantly, flour; she had wanted to make artisan bread again, and so we had mixed up a batch (equal to four small loaves) which left us a bit short on flour. Then, on the way back, the sky let loose and we almost drowned on the way home.
If someone tells you that you won't need a jacket or an umbrella in DC during the summer-- don't believe them. The weather in July is all over the map. Most of the days have been warm, but I've been thankful for having brought long sleeves and a hoodie on more than one occasion.
This evening we made pork chops and rice, and two different toppings for the pork. Roommate #1 loves sweet things with her meal; Roommate #2 can't stand sweet mixed with meat. To bridge the gap, I made a cinammon-apple cream sauce for Roommate #1 and I, and a mushroom herb cream sauce for Roommate #2. Paired with our homemade bread, I think we all went to bed extremely happy.
