Intern Lunch, Jazz in the Garden, and Plums

After morning meetings, six of the interns at my office walked around the block to Vapianos for lunch. Laughing and eating pasta and pizza with a fantastic group of people was a lovely way to spend the lunch hour.

After work, my coworkers and I went to Jazz in the Garden. Benedicta, my female officemate, and I didn't stay very long; to be honest, the music is great but the atmosphere is highly centered around sangria and loud people -- and a security guard who takes his job too seriously. We left to go home (since our Metro stops are one after the other), and I decided to use my extra time to check out Harris Teeter, another grocery store in the area. All in all, I don't plan on returning on a regular basis unless they have a great sale on something I need since they seem pricier than Giant. They did have a sale on plums and my favorite chips (goodbye, healthy diet), though, and so it wasn't a wasted trip. When I wander around grocery stores, I tend to call home; this evening I called my grandmother, and ended up mostly talking with my granddad. It was a good call. He told me about the monsoon season that is going on in Tucson right now, and I felt a twinge of jealousy. I miss experiencing monsoon season.

After I got home, I continued putting Kendra's engagement video together and began putting together a video that may be shown at the TWC commencement ceremony -- we'll see if it does!

Tomorrow is going to be a great day - we have a tour of the Capitol scheduled!

Sometimes a stream of consciousness at the end of an exhausting week, sometimes something deeper, Clarice provides her unique perspective as a summer intern in the Capitol city from where she stands -- at 5'3" and unable to reach the overhead rail on the Metro train.
